Peg and Sam Ballou of Elkhorn Lake Hunt Club and Elkhorn Farms Hatchery have been longtime supporters of the gamebird industry, giving their time and enthusiasm to the North American Gamebird Association. Both have served on the organization’s Board of Directors, with Sam serving as president in 2014-2015 and Peg became president in January of 2022. Identifying support and participation from hunting preserves as the biggest challenge to the health of the industry, Peg set out to change that by creating the first conference exclusively designed for hunting clubs. Shortly after, Elkhorn became the conference’s first sponsor at the Diamond Level.

“The gamebird industry faces many challenges from avian flu, to ammo shortages, to attacks from animal rights groups and more,” explained Peg. “Our best hope to thrive through these challenges is to be unified as an industry, and to do that, our association has got to show value to all business segments, but most assuredly hunt clubs.”

Peg has long prioritized increasing NAGA membership, but this year, she has placed a significant emphasis on hunting preserves. Her vision, the NAGA Hunting Club Conference, has a jam-packed agenda designed by hunting club owners. The event takes place on July 18-20 at Deer Creek Lodge in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.

Registration remains open, and all are welcome.
