Map of OhioYesterday the Senate Ag and Natural Resources Committee voted to add language onto House Bill 420 that would fix the licensing for commercial bird preserves in Ohio that popped up earlier this year. House Bill 420 has already passed the House of Representatives and is still pending a vote in the Senate Ag and Natural Resources Committee. You can read more about it in the News From Afield section of the Nov/ Dec issue of NAGA News.

The US Sportsmen’s Alliance is working to have the bill passed (including the amendment that fixes the licensing issue – making it so that a hunting license is not needed to hunt on commercial bird preserves) out of the Committee and the full Senate within the next couple of weeks. It would then need House concurrence before being sent to the Governor.

So far things are looking very good to have this done by the end of the year. However, the legislative process can always throw surprises at us so it is not a done deal. Please stay tuned for more updates on the issue.
